Hotel mega group Accor, the company behind such names as Sofitel, Novotel and Grand Mercure, has launched a new brand - but don't expect it to be in their guests' faces.
MGallery is a new collection of hotels from Accor's existing stable so distinctive management has decided they no longer need a brand such as Sofitel or Grand Mercure as part of their name. The group of eight includes Melbourne's Grand Hotel, built in Melbourne's Railway Commission offices. Accor general manager of communications Peter Hook says the new collection caters for the demand among some travellers to stay in small or niche-style properties.
Properties have been chosen for character, history, design and vision. More hotels are expected to join the group in the next few months.
